Louise Henderson, PhD

After graduating from the UNC School of Public Health with a doctorate in Epidemiology, Dr. Henderson joined faculty in the Department of Radiology as an Assistant Professor in July 2009. Dr. Henderson currently serves as Director of NCLSR. Dr. Henderson has over 10 years of experience collaborating with physicians, research scientists, and statisticians in the areas of health services research, quality improvement activities, disease surveillance, and clinical trials. Dr. Henderson’s research interests focus on cancer screening and the application of linked cancer outcomes and Medicare/administrative data to assess patterns and outcomes of care. Dr. Henderson’s interests lie primarily in cancer screening and the performance of imaging technologies, comparative effectiveness research, and disparities in cancer screening and treatment.

Dr. Rivera is a Professor of Medicine in the Division of Pulmonary Diseases and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC) in Rochester, New York. Dr. Rivera joined the team when she was a professor of medicine in the division of pulmonary and critical care at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill (UNC) and director of the Multidisciplinary Lung Cancer Screening Program at UNC. She collaborates in research to examine the delivery, quality and outcomes of lung cancer screening in North Carolina and New York.

Danielle joined the department of Radiology in February 2020. She is responsible for ensuring project data and analytic needs are met. Prior to joining the department, she completed a post-doctoral fellowship in cancer prevention and control at the National Cancer Institute (NCI). Danielle received a PhD in Epidemiology from UNC where she was awarded the Ruth L. Kirschstein Predoctoral Individual National Research Service Award. Following her MPH in Community Health Education from UNCG she was a Research Associate at a health care quality improvement organization. Danielle also received a BS in Clinical Laboratory Science from UNC.
Lindsay Lane, MPH

Lindsay joined the department of Radiology in October 2019. Ms. Lane is the project manager for then NC Lung Screening Registry and other lung cancer screening research endeavors. She keeps IRB submissions current, serves as the primary contact for our partnering sites, and assists with manuscript preparation. Prior to joining UNC Radiology, Lindsay was a lead CRA for a Type 1 Diabetes research group, a decision support analyst for an eye hospital, and an outbreak investigator for a county health department. She earned her Master of Public Health in Epidemiology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and Artium Baccalaureus in Anthropology from Rollins College.

Michael rejoined the department of radiology in March of 2023, having previously worked in the department from 10/2016 to 05/2022. He serves as the principal data manager for the NC Lung Screening Registry and is responsible for data acquisition, processing, and coding (with some light analysis sprinkled in). His primary programming languages are SAS, SQL, and Python, but he has dabbled in myriad languages including Java, JavaScript, and C#. Michael graduated from UNC Chapel Hill in 2012 with a BA in Psychology.
Alexandra V. Romfoe, MPH

Alexandra joined the department of Radiology as a Research Specialist in October 2023. Her primary responsibilities are data abstraction and supporting research projects. She recently earned her Master of Public Health in Environmental Health Solutions from UNC Chapel Hill where she honed her passion for toxicology, occupational health, and research. Originally from Milwaukee, WI, she earned her bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. She is excited to continue her career in public health research to both understand and prevent human exposure to toxic substances.

Yasmin joined the department of Radiology as a Research Assistant in November 2023. She is primarily responsible for data abstraction and research operations support. Prior to joining the department, she worked as a Medical Laboratory Scientist in Transfusion Services at WakeMed and as a Medical Laboratory Technician at a rural hospital. She earned her Bachelor of Public Health in Biostatistics from UNC in 2023.
