About

The North Carolina Lung Screening Registry (NCLSR) is a research registry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill focused on understanding how low dose computed tomography (LDCT) for lung screening behaves in real world settings. The NCLSR is funded by the National Cancer Institute to collect information about patients receiving lung cancer screening. The objective of this registry is to evaluate the extent to which disparities in lung cancer screening outcomes exist.

The NCLSR is a statewide initiative which works with community and academic sites throughout North Carolina. The registry began in 2017 and continues to enroll patients. Specifically, we collect patient information including demographics, comorbidities, smoking history, screening results and incidental findings, and cancer outcomes. As of the end of 2022, approximately 16,000 patients are included. This registry database will provide real world data about the patterns and outcomes of lung cancer screening and will serve to advance lung cancer research.
